A core component of my work is about supporting clients to explore their life experiences in their own way. For some, the prospect of this can be daunting. Knowing they will be listened to and not judged can help to make this process feel more manageable.

I am trained in the Humanistic Integrative approach to counselling and psychotherapy. This approach recognises the uniqueness of the individual and need for the therapy to adapt to the client's personal needs. Depending on the needs of the client, the work will encompass aspects of psychodynamic psychotherapy with elements of Humanistic Counselling, CBT, philosophy and creative therapies.

Intrinsic to the success of therapy is the working alliance within the client-therapist relationship. I often integrate my observations of the dynamics between myself and the client into the therapy. I have found that the willingness of both the therapist and client to discuss what's happening in the here-and-now is a valuable means of gaining further insight into one's relationships and experiences outside the therapy room.

The therapy will challenge you at the same time as maintaining respect for your unique way of understanding and living your life.

Clients for individual therapy meet with me on a weekly basis, at the same time and day for 50 minutes duration.

I provide open-ended or time-limited therapy to an agreed number of sessions. Time-limited therapy will often be more present-focused and forward-looking. Scheduled within the therapy will be regular periods of review.

The first session is an opportunity for us to meet and decide whether it would be helpful for us to work together. We will discuss what the catalyst was that brought you to therapy, your expectations of therapy and the key issues. If you decide to book further sessions, these key issues are likely to be returned to in future sessions. As part of this work, a case history and health assessment will be carried out.
